Irish Partnership School

Three members of staff have visited Sacred Heart N.S. in Newbawn , Ireland . We have been fascinated to learn about the differences in curriculum and accountability between our countries. Inspections are not as frequent in Ireland as they are in the UK- The long serving headteacher was pleased to tell us he had never seen an inspector yet!

There was a tremendous sense of National pride evident in the classes. The children were keen to demonstrate their talents in Irish dancing, singing, playing musical instruments and sports. We were introduced to the dramatic and energetic game of hurling and discovered we would need quite a lot of practice!

It was clear that the Irish children shared similar problems with limited changing facilities as we do. Their solution was to introduce a school tracksuit to wear on PE days. After careful consideration and consultation we decided to add our own school tracksuit to our uniform.
